Classes of MembershipThe Association has several classes of membership and they are: |

1. Fellows - styled FLBA
Fellows shall comprise every person elected into the class of Fellows. Subject to the provision of these presents, every candidate for election or transfer into the class of Fellows, shall satisfy the Board of Management that the following conditions are fulfilled. Fellow Members shall be those Members who have had life insurance selling experience:
(i) Greater than ten years of which five years have been as a Life Insurance Broker and has qualified for the LBA Annual Registered Practicing Certificate for three consecutive years; or
(ii) Six years life insurance selling experience of which no less than three years has been as a broker and who has passed all examinations in the Life Insurance course as available through Massey University or the previous course organised and has qualified for the LBA Annual Registered Practicing Certificate for three consecutive years.
A fellow may use after his/her name the initials F.L.B.A

2. Associates - styled ALBA
Associates shall comprise every person elected into the class of Associates. Subject to the provisions of these presents, every candidate for election or transfer into the class of Associates shall satisfy the Board of Management that the following conditions are fulfilled. Associates shall be those who have had a minimum of four years Life Insurance selling experience of which no less than two years have been as a Life Broker and has qualified for the LBA Annual Registered Practicing Certificate for the immediate past year.
An associate member may use after his/her name the initials A.L.B.A

3. Ordinary Members - styled member
Ordinary members shall comprise every person elected to the Association subject to the provisions of these presents; every candidate for election as a member shall satisfy the Board of Management that the following conditions are fulfilled. Ordinary members shall be those who have at least one years Life Insurance selling experience as a Broker but less than four years.
An ordinary member may state after his/her name that they are a member, without abbreviation.

4. All members...
All members must have and keep in force at all times, a Professional Indemnity Insurance Cover of not less than NZ$2,000,000 (two million dollars) with an underwriter acceptable to the Association. Proof of renewal continuance of cover must be supplied to their Association upon request.

5. Affiliate Members
Affiliate Members shall comprise salaried staff of Life Offices and Brokers or Advisors who do not qualify as independent as per clause 4 (a) of the constitution. Affiliate Members shall not have voting rights. Affiliate Members who actively sell Life Insurance must have and keep in force at all times, Professional Indemnity Cover as set out in clause (IV). Affiliate Members who are salaried staff of Life Offices are exempt this requirement.

How much does it cost?Annual Subscription: Year 1 $400.00 plus GST, subsequent years $350.00 plus GST
